Penicuik House is built for gathering. The rooms are generous and full of character, with a natural flow that lets people come together or spread out as they choose. It works for long, lively meals and quieter mornings alike, space to share time without feeling on top of one another.
At the centre of it all is the Estate Kitchen. Through the festive season it becomes the heart of the house: mince pies in the oven, mulled wine on the stove, and the warm scent of spice carrying from one room to the next. Private chefs take care of everything, from celebratory meals to the finer details in between.
A long-table Christmas lunch, something shared and informal, or a New Year dinner carrying late into the evening, it’s all handled seamlessly. A full house, a well-laid table, and rooms full of good company.

End-of-year gatherings at Penicuik Estate are made to feel distinctive, generous, and effortless to host.
Penicuik House lends itself naturally to bringing people together, the table laid, the fire crackling, the rooms full of easy conversation. It welcomes more intimate corporate dinners of up to 48 guests, ideal for client entertaining, team celebrations, and occasions that unfold at their own pace.
For larger parties, The Orangery offers something more expansive. An impressive setting for up to 150 guests, light-filled by day, glowing softly against the trees by night, alive with music and candlelight. The stage for drinks receptions, festive parties, and the kind of celebrations that take on a life of their own.
Across both settings, our Estate Kitchen takes care of everything, food, drinks, and the finer details, so you can focus on the evening, and the people in the room.

Scattered across the estate, our cottages and houses are an invitation to press pause on the festive season.
Each one lovingly restored and brimming with its own story and soul, a snug retreat for two, a Palladian villa tucked within a walled garden, or a family-sized house with room for everyone.
Settle in, stretch out, and make yourselves at home. Long walks through the woods, a fire to come home to, the Pentlands in the distance, and inside, mince pies on the side, something warming on the stove, and no urgency to be anywhere else.
