Penicuik Estate is famous for its internationally significant architecture and landscape, which sits at the heart of the estate and is collectively known as the Penicuik Designed Landscape.

Penicuik House Preservation Trust was established in 1985 by Sir John Clerk (10th Baronet) in response to the threat of Penicuik House being demolished. ‘Its role is to maintain and conserve ‘Old Penicuik House’ and other buildings within the Designed Landscape conveyed or leased to the Trustees. While it is currently working on maintaining Old Penicuik House, it is also raising funds for future projects. These conservation projects are detailed below.
