The Ramsay Monument, an elegant obelisk on Cauldshoulders Ridge, was raised by Sir James Clerk in honour of poet and family friend Allan Ramsay.
Its position closes a grand view from Old Penicuik House, drawing the eye along woodland glades and ancient axes, while its presence celebrates friendship and artistic legacy.
