Built in 1714, Eskfield is our Palladian spa house, one of the most important features of the Penicuik Designed Landscape.
It sits within an astonishing 1.5-hectare arcadian walled garden, all for your exclusive enjoyment. With a burn running through a beautiful orchard and wildflower meadow, Eskfield offers a natural sanctuary surrounded by ancient woodland in every direction.
A walled garden of calm
Step through the door into a world of calm: a secluded walled garden dotted with orchard trees and wildflowers, where the only sounds are birdsong and the soft whisper of water in the burn.
This early 18th-century villa has been reimagined for pure relaxation. The orangery-styled sitting room bathed in morning light, flowing seamlessly into a serene kitchen warmed by a double-sided wood-burner.

A retreat made for two
Upstairs, the entire first floor is devoted to a sweeping bedroom suite, complete with a roll-top bath and a rain shower set beneath high ceilings.
The private spa calls for indulgence, from the soothing sauna and bracing cold plunge to the cedar hot tub fringed by lush greenery.
As dusk settles, fire up a feast on the Big Green Egg, enjoy dinner on the terrace, and share stories by the outdoor wood-burner as the stars emerge.
Eskfield is our most romantic retreat for two: restorative, enchanting, and entirely wrapped in nature’s gentle embrace.
